Govt College of Engg & Textile Tech
   The college was established on 19th July 1927 as Government Silk Weaving and Dyeing Institute, under the administrative control of Directorate of industries, Government of West Bengal. It was renamed as College of Textile Technology in 1950. In 2004, the college was brought under the academic control of the West Bengal University of Technology and a new B. Tech. Course in Computer Science and Engineering was introduced. In 2005, it was finally renamed as Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology, Berhampore. In 2004, Textile Technology department of the institute was accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering departments were introduced in the year 2010. The first batch will pass out in 2014. Technical education system in India faces a great challenge in terms of imparting the right knowledge and the pertinent experience that blends to create complete professionals. This college strongly believes in the complete growth of its students and provides them every opportunity and facility to nurture their talents. Our purpose is not to transfer knowledge, but to create an environment that imbibes students to discover and construct knowledge for them and to make them physically healthy, intellectually objective, emotionally balanced and spiritually conscious members of the society.

Dumkal Institute of Engineering & Techlogy
   The college was established on 4th August in 2001 with four streams (CSE, IT, ECE, & EIE). It is one of the oldest Engineering Colleges under WBUT in West Bengal. Basantapur Education Society, under the wise leadership of Dr Nazrul Islam BSc, MA, MBA, PhD, D Litt, IPS, started programmes for spreading education among the people of surrounding rural areas in Dumkal. This area of Murshidabad is well known for illiteracy and poverty. He surmounted all obstacles and established Dumkal Institute of Engineering & Technology and paved the way for thousands of rural students to undergo degree course in Engineering & Technology at their door step. Subsequently this college started courses in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and also M Tech in ECE. Two 1st Degree Professional Courses like BBA and BCA have also been included for the interest of the students.
This college takes every care to support the needs of the students regarding day to day theoretical and practical classes. Moreover, they are given ample opportunity for games & sports, literary activities and social services. Realizing the importance of placement, DIET keeps liaison with various industries and more than 80% of the 2011, 2012 & 2013 batches have already got lucrative jobs in different sectors. Well qualified and experienced Faculty members are always dedicated towards all aspect development of students. All laboratories, workshops and other facilities of this college are neatly arranged as has been prescribed by the affiliating university and AICTE.
